jacket testing

Sam on the main falls - Photo sourced from www.mikekayak.blogspot.com

For years kayakers have feared the swim that may take place above a big rapid forcing them to have to swim into the GNAR. A swim in the lead up to Tutea falls on the Kaituna would be in this catagory. I think this fear is still there among most kayakers today still. But for Kaituna local Sam Sutton the thought of swimming has become a challenge on his local run as his kayak run count down the river must be in the thousands. On a sunny day Sam and Mike Dawson decided to take hand boof the falls into the pool and made it look easy! With this out of the way their thoughts turned to the rarely kayaked 'trout pool falls' at the bottom of the run. With style and grace + a bit of a beating, they both came through and out the other side.
At Hydraulics we stand behind the quality of our gear but do encourage swimming off waterfalls! HAHA Do not try this at home,
